Smoking doesn't slim girls

Why are teen girls still lighting up? Girls are using cigarettes for weight control, but it doesn't work. Teenage girls gain weight at exactly the same rate whether they smoke or not, but girls, who believed they are overweight are more likely to smoke than those who saw themselves as average or thin. Around one-third of girls consider themselves overweight.

The myth that smoking is slimming is a clever marketing ploy, courtesy of the tobacco industry. Young people are very important to the tobacco industry, because eventually the people who currently smoke will not survive, and those smokers have to be replaced. Smoking is not glamorous, and the tobacco industry is actually duping teen girls. They are out to get young people. Who else is going to replace all those smokers?
